Joy of the Day, Day 16: Hammock

A couple cool things about this place: First, there is always a fountain within earshot, and second, right outside our door, six big rope hammocks hang from palm trees in two tidy, appropriately distanced rows. The hammocks are always a popular spot to enjoy the sunshine—at once peaceful and playful since, after all, hammocks are really just giant cradle-swings.

But at the end of the day, when the sun sinks low and the breeze picks up just a little, the evening noises begin: crickets and cooing doves join with gurgling water to make a special kind of music. Somehow no one else but me has figured out that this is the very best time of all to climb into a hammock—just in time to hear the secret concert start.

Today, this hammock is my joy. #joyinplace
